6 Ways to Use Up Your Apples

Hello everybody!

Does anybody else have bags of frozen apples that they've been trying to use up from summer? I've got a freezer full of chopped apples, as well as fresh apples that I need to use. My freezer is just too full and I'd like to free up space. I thought I'd share a few recipes with you all today.
The best thing about cooking and baking with apples is that they are local, plentiful and you can get them almost anywhere if you don't grow them yourself.

Apples and Peanut butter
This snack is quick and easy to make, and great for kids and adults both! Just core the apples if you have a de-corer, and cut the apples into slices around the middle. Slather with peanut butter and place another apple slice on top. Voila! The perfect healthy snack.

Baked Apples
Baked apples are fairly simple to do and require very little ingredients.

4 large apples cored (leaving the bottom of the core on)
1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
3 Tbsp butter

Mix sugar, cinnamon, and butter together and stuff into the apples. Place apples into a glass dish and pour 1/2 cup water into the bottom of the pan. Put into the preheated oven at 375 degrees for 45 - 55 mins. Tastes great served with ice cream.

Apple, Bacon, and Cheddar Grilled Cheese

Cheddar cheese
Apple
Cooked bacon
Mustard (I use honey dijon)

Take two slices of bread. Spread butter on one, and mustard on the other. Layer the cooked bacon, thinly sliced apple and cheese on one piece and then put the other piece on top. Butter both outer sides of the sandwich and place in a frying pan. Fry both sides on medium until bread is browned, and cheese is melted.
The apple adds a deliciously tangy accent to the sandwich.

Baked Brie with Apples

Brie cheese wheel
1 thinly sliced apple
Brown sugar
Maple syrup
Butter
Pecans (optional)

Put a small dollop of butter on the bottom of a pan and place Brie wheel on top. Place thinly sliced apples on top and sprinkle brown sugar and maple syrup over top. Add pecans if you would like and bake for 10-15 mins at 350 degrees, or until middle of Brie is warmed.

Apple Crisp

4-6 apples
3/4 cup Butter
1 cup oats
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
3/4 cup Brown sugar
3/4 cup Flour

Peel and chop apples roughly. Mix together butter, oats, cinnamon, brown sugar and flour until it resembles a crumbly mess, but still sticks together if you pinch some together. Crumble the flour mixture over apples in a 9 x 9" glass bake dish and bake for 40 mins at 350 degrees. Tastes great served with ice cream.

Breakfast Parfait
1 cup of yogurt
1/2 chopped apple
1/3 cup granola
1 tbsp nuts
1 tbsp flax seeds
Sprinkling of cinnamon

Basically just layer ingredients to your liking or dump them all together and stir. The apple should be chopped fairly small.
