Something Tells Me We're into Something Good!
This has been a "bumper" year for crab apple picks, (in fact we can hardly keep up with them) and we also had an opportunity to pick pears this summer.
You say, "What, pears in Steinbach?
YES! These miniature fruit were hard as rocks when we picked them, but did you know pears ripen from the inside out? Daily they turned yellow on my counter and we had plenty for fresh eating and scones as well as canning for winter. Spiced crab apples (cinnamon hearts, cinnamon and cloves) and spiced pears (ginger, cinnamon and cloves)...look pretty and taste great!
